When I Met A Don Johnson Want-To-Be

"I've been dying to ask you a question all night. What is it like to go to bed every night with someone who sounds just like Arnold Schwarzenegger?" As these words were said to me, I was just taking a sip of a very expensive wine in beautiful chateaux outside of Bordeaux. I lost control laughing and the wine, went everywhere it shouldn't go, including out my nose. My husband turned bright red, and the conversation that followed was memorable.
The woman, loud, wearing a leopard print top, extremely low cut with a very voluptuous figure and everything on show was the wife of a business contact. Her husband looked like a Don Johnson want-to-be. At the beginning of that evening as they walked towards me I thought, "Seriously...what a joke."
I did at that moment what we all do but shouldn't, I judged them on their looks. It would have been impossible not to.
That night will never be forgotten; the woman was brilliant, funny, highly educated as was her Don Johnson looking husband. Their style wasn't mine, but everything else was just fantastic about the couple.
Why do we judge people by their handbags, their leopard tops, their fingernails or their accents? The answer is simple...we are human. Hang on to those first impressions lightly though, be willing to change your mind.
I have been surprised so many times by people... both good and bad.
That old saying 'don't judge a book by its cover' is true. And to that lady in her leopard top...I don't even remember her name, but I will never forget every detail of that evening and her beautiful fun personality.
P.S: My husband has a charming German accent, much better than Arnolds.
